[10/30/20]   ADOPT-A-FAMILY CHRISTMAS
NEWS FLASH!!

Due to the COVICD-19 pandemic, the ADOPT-A-FAMILY raffle is canceled.

The church will not be distributing gifts, clothing or toys. But! are asking for donations of gift cards, or cash to purchase gift cards by December 2, so each family may purchase what is needed.

SALON ELAN is committed to provide the funds needed to ensure no family suffers from
want this year.

Please consider contributing a donation to ADOPT-A-FAMILY through Salon Elan. We will match funds raised (up to $400.) As a gift for your donation of $15 we offer a gift of your choice from Motown Soup.

A dip mix (perfect for the Holidays) or a mini soup mix (4 cups of hot soup for a cold night.)

With a $25 donation, we offer one of each.

Your donation goes twice as far. Motown Soup is a non-profit organization that shares a portion of each sale to make a difference in the lives of the hungry, homeless and hurting. We have purchased the gifts that will help both ADOPT-A-FAMILY and the homeless.

[06/19/20]   This is a little late, but perfectly explains why I won’t accommodate you...from Michigan Hairdressers Association.
As we all navigate through these new COVID19 times, there seems to be some confusion as to whether or not it is legal to do hair outside of your salon.

We have seen a lot of post ourselves of stylists advertising on the FB sale sites to travel to people's homes to do their hair and have had a lot of you share these posts with us.

It is NOT legal to do hair at someone's home or for them to come to your house unless your home has been inspected by the state and is a licensed establishment.

OCCUPATIONAL CODE (EXCERPT)
Act 299 of 1980

339.1217 Prohibited conduct; penalties.
Sec. 1217.

A licensee that commits or has committed 1 or more of the following is subject to the penalties set forth in article 6:

(a) Continued practice by an individual who knows he or she has an infectious or contagious disease.

(b) Except as otherwise provided in this subdivision, practicing cosmetology on the public outside of the premises of a licensed cosmetology establishment or school of cosmetology. A licensed cosmetologist may perform cosmetology services for a patron at a location that is not on the premises of a licensed cosmetology establishment if the services are performed at any of the following:

(i) A special event in which the cosmetology service is required to be performed for an on-site participant of the event.
(ii) A nursing home, as that term is defined in section 20109 of the public health code, 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.20109, for a patient or resident of that home.
(iii) A home for the aged, as that term is defined in section 20106 of the public health code, 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.20106, for a patient or resident of that home.
(iv) An adult foster care facility, as that term is defined in section 3 of the adult foster care facility licensing act, 1979 PA 218, MCL 400.703, for a patient or resident of that facility.
(v) A hospital, as that term is defined in section 20106 of the public health code, 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.20106, for a patient of that hospital.

We have provided the link below so you can share as well.

There is currently a new law being worked on that will allow mobile salons but until then please stay safe friends and know that you have more control over your salon environment than you do going into someone's home.
Thank you, Josie Horner for the custom face masks, thank you Laura Atsoff for the flowers!
Thank you Dianne for the chow!
[06/14/20]   We are so excited to get back to work tomorrow!! We’ve missed you all so much!
[06/11/20]   Salon Elan will have a hand sanitizer refill station! Bring in your bottles to have refilled .50¢ per ounce.

It’s likely that our opening will be delayed... maybe you should make an appointment for mid June (don’t cancel the earlier appointment, just in case.) I will stand with you untouched up! Yikes!

[05/08/20]   Running out of products? We would be happy to do a porch drop delivery for you! Call or text us.
[04/30/20]   Wait on your stylist. (By Patti Lawley Smith)

We were there for your first highlight.
We were there when you went to prom.
We were there when you got married.
We were there when you got that positive line on the test to make sure you could still have your hair done.
We were there when you didn't know if you could carry a baby.
We were there when that second baby didn't come so easily.
We were there when your teenager was making you question your parenting skills.
We were there when your mom was diagnosed with cancer.
We were there when your dad died and you couldn't pull it together to shampoo and blow dry your own hair.
We were there while you waited on test results to a scary disease.
We were there when you thought for certain your childs wedding would send you into a nervous break down.
We were there when you and your spouse decided divorce was the only option.
We were there when you lost your job.
We were there when you had an interview.
We were there when postpartum had you so beat down but that new color and cut made you look forward to fixing your hair.
We were there early so you could come without your kids.
We were there late because you didn't get off in time before the salon closed.
We were there missing baseball games, basketball games, jamborees.
We were there making sure you felt as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside.
We will be the last ones to take care of you and do your hair one last time when it's time.

Wait on your stylist. We are waiting on you and have been.
Our clients are our family. We share details with each other we wouldn't anyone else.
The bond between a hairdresser and their client is a friendship of trust, love and lots of laughs.

Wait on us. ❤️
We miss you too!

Just received this from my friend...
[04/14/20]   We have had some very generous actions and offers from our guests wanting to help save our business from financial ruin. Each of these touches us to our core. While extremely generous and thoughtful, they would be a bandaid to pay bills now, yet not have funds coming in when services are rendered. Instead, we’re asking anyone who wishes to help us financially, to BUY something when you come in for your next visit. We have something you want or need and every purchase is what will add money to our business. We have hundreds of dollars in product sitting on the shelves. This is what we’ve always meant when we said buy local. THIS is what will put money in our small business account! This isn’t the last you’ll hear from us on this topic. We’ll remind you again before we reopen. Thank you all for your support. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program...
